Key Expertise
An increasing and today impending problem for human health is bacterial resistance towards antimicrobial agents.
My key expertise is within the field of emergence, adaptation and spread of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria applying lab experiments and bioinformatics. My main focus is on drug-resistance thus as well on multidrug-resistance encoding Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli and Salmonella. This expertise includes phenotypic and genotypic as well as bioinformatic methods to detect existing and new resistant determinants.

Introduction
In my M.Sc. thesis, also funded by Familielegatet, I worked with Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), where as an example cloning of bacteria and expression of genes was applied, and this has today been my documented focus for over 10 years.
I have as an example participated in projects the following places:
♦ DTU – The Center for Biological Sequence Analysis (Denmark)
♦ The University of Copenhagen – The Functional Genomics Group (Denmark)
♦ Hvidovre Hospital – MRSA Knowledge Center (Denmark)
♦ DTU – Molecular Diagnostics (Denmark)
♦ DTU – Dept. of Epidemiology and Genomic Microbiology (Denmark)
